From One Question to a Global Movement
Every movement starts somewhere smaller than you’d expect. Ours started with a single question, in a single conversation, that nobody had a good answer for yet. What came after was years of building, learning, adapting — and eventually, arriving somewhere much bigger than where we started. Here’s how we got here.
There Wasn’t One. So We Built It.
It started with a question a client asked Cathy Light: “Is there any software that can measure DEI sentiment inside an organization?” At the time, the honest answer was no — nothing like that existed yet.
So instead of waiting for someone else to build it, we did.
A Mission Takes Shape
DiversityEquityInclusion.com launched with a clear mission: bring real-time insight to people, culture, and inclusion. It was early days for a topic that was just becoming a genuine business priority — and the response told us we were onto something that mattered.
Everything Changed, Overnight
Then the world changed practically overnight. Remote work went from rare to global in a matter of weeks. Employee wellbeing and mental health became mission-critical, not optional. Digital transformation that might have taken years happened in months.
Trust, connection, and communication were tested like never before — and leaders needed real, honest insight more urgently than ever.
Turning Insight Into a Real Tool
The idea evolved into Peoplenamics™ — measuring People, Process, and Power™ through real-time employee sentiment, powered by our proprietary Morphii® technology. Organizations weren’t just talking about culture anymore. They had a way to actually see it, measure it, and act on it.
Beyond a Single Issue
Our focus broadened again — from individual initiatives to something more human: Inclusion, Belonging, and Opportunity. Not a checklist. A recognition that the real driver of stronger workplaces was connection itself, and the everyday leadership that builds it.
An Honest Chapter
Along the way, DEI as a category faced real headwinds — pushback, politicization, and budget cuts across many organizations. We’re not going to pretend that didn’t happen.
But here’s what never changed underneath all of it: the actual business questions leaders were asking. Are people engaged? Do they trust their leaders? Are managers developing their teams? Is culture healthy? Are we ready for AI? Are we retaining the people we need? Those questions didn’t disappear just because the conversation around them shifted.
Something Bigger Than Where We Started
That’s the moment this became something bigger. Not a rebrand. Not a reaction to a trend. A recognition that the real work was never really about any one label — it was always about building better workplaces, for everyone, regardless of politics or point in the cycle.
That recognition became Workplaces Reimagined™: a global community bringing together leadership, workplace intelligence, and innovation to help organizations navigate whatever comes next — together.
